This year, Kilnaleck National School are working towards getting the Active School Flag.
The aim of the Active School Flag is to encourage schools to be more active, this will often link in with all the hard work we are doing throughout the year on topics like healthy living, being active, getting exercise, taking care of our minds and bodies and of course having a healthy diet.
There are four key areas to the ‘Active Schools’ Programme.
We are concentrating on our physical education lessons, physical activity at different times throughout the day, getting everyone involved and having an Active School Week.
Our Active Committee meets regularly and decides on how best to promote physical activity in the school. They also lead and oversee the activities and decide what needs to be done and who is going to do it. They update the active schools board regularly and are doing a sterling job encouraging and motivating the whole school community!
